Fire In the Eyes of — YES! It’s him!!

by maeko on January 16th, 2005

When looking at the prospect of love–with anyone, for argument’s sake–the thought of anonymity never appeared so tantalizing.

Fluttery eyelashes. Accelerated heartbeat. A word. Two. Beauty means nothing. Shredded to bits. A word. Three. Intellect shorn to pieces. A word. Four. Five. Eye contact, a flimsy handshake, a crooked nose. A word. Goodbye.

That’s okay. I was in love for about three seconds. It can’t be hard to find again.

From handshake to handshake, I search for my new lover in the eyes of every stranger. From each slow or quick passing. Potential lies therein.

Anonymity is bliss. Until the electricity takes my hand from a firm shake and unwavering gaze from a passionate soul, anonymity will aid me until I am ready to unveil that I am not a mere stranger, but the love of his life.

–Inspired by Murakami Haruki, novelist (Japan)

Song in rotation: This Fire – Franz Ferdinand
